Baotou company produces new-energy patrol car

A new-energy patrol car designed and produced by a Baotou-based company is currently undergoing testing, according to a Nov 7 Baotou Evening News report.

Inner Mongolia Rare Earth Ovonic High Power MH/Ni Battery Co has developed the patrol car, which is 3.22 meters long, 1.55 meters wide and 1.97 meters high. It weighs 810 kilograms. It can carry five people, with the maximum load being 400 kilograms. Its maximum speed is 40 kph.

The car is powered by battery and can travel 60 kilometers after four hours of charging.

At present, the car has fully entered the actual working condition test stage, and will soon be delivered to Baogang Group for daily patrol of its steel plants.

Inner Mongolia Rare Earth Ovonic High Power MH/Ni Battery Co is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Northern Rare Earth (Group) High-Tech Co, with registered capital of 140 million yuan ($20 million). The company is located in Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Development Zone, a national-level high-tech development zone covering 60,000 square meters.

The company has the exclusive technology and patents for the Ni-MH battery developed by Ovonic Battery Company of the United States. It uses the production process of the nickel-hydrogen power battery made by Sanoh Industries Co of Japan. The automatic production line and quality testing equipment also come from the US and Japan.

It is mainly engaged in the research and development, manufacturing and sales of Ni-MH power batteries and related products, with an annual production capacity of 7 million D-type Ni-MH power batteries.
