According to local authorities, the second phase of the Yellow River flood control works are finished after successfully passing regional final inspection.

The second phase of the flood control works of the Inner Mongolia section of the Yellow River is one of the 172 major water conservancy projects for water saving and water supply of China.

The construction of the project involves six cities and leagues along the Yellow River namely Hohhot, Baotou, Bayannuur, Ordos, Alxa League, and Wuhai. The project involves a variety of facets of flood control, such as river regulation, levee engineering, construction in dangerous areas, and control and guidance engineering works. It started in 2015 with a total investment of 4.5 billion yuan ($66 million) and was completed in three years.

The completion and acceptance of this project can further improve the flood control and anti-flood ability of the Inner Mongolia section of the Yellow River, and is of great significance for promoting the economic and social development of cities along the Yellow River.
