The opening ceremony for a Tongliao-themed day was held at the venue for the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Expo in Beijing on Aug 7, aiming to promote cultural exchanges, seek economic and trade cooperation, enhance the visibility and influence of Tongliao, and promote the development of Tongliao's economy and cultural tourism.

At the event, organizers showed a Tongliao promotional cultural tourism film, and representatives from over 20 Tongliao enterprises promoted their projects and products.

After the ceremony, a traditional Mongolian ethnic cattle-roasting ceremony and tasting activities were held. The Ulan Muqir art troupe from Tongliao also performed some traditional Mongolian songs and dances.
