The Hohhot Baita International Airport served 1.38 million people in July, a year-on-year increase of 11.6 percent, announced the airport on Aug 5.

Over the past month, the number of flights to depart from or arrive at the airport increased by 9.7 percent to 11,300.

According to the airport, it had served 7.57 million passengers and 63,700 flights by July 31, an increase of 10.1 and 6.7 percent, respectively.

As of the end of last July, the airport was connected to 88 cities, up eight from a year earlier.

To deal with higher traffic during the summer holiday travel rush, which runs from July 1 to Aug 31, the Hohhot Baita International Airport is working with airlines to obtain larger planes and introduce more flights.

The airport has added flights to Beijing, Shenyang, Jinan, Yantai, Nanjing, Changchun, Urumqi, Chifeng, Hailaar, Manzhouli, and more. The average number of daily flights from Hohhot to Beijing has increased from one to nine.
