North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region will hold two trade fairs showcasing its agricultural and livestock products in East China's Shanghai and South China's Guangzhou in Guangdong province with the aim of expanding markets for its products, local authorities announced at a news conference in Hohhot, the capital of the region, Aug 13.

According to local media reports, the two trade fairs are scheduled to start on Sept 5 in Shanghai and Nov 7 in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province. This will be the second time Inner Mongolia has held trade fairs featuring its green, ecological agricultural and livestock products outside the region.

With the slogan of "Let the world share tastes from Inner Mongolia", the trade fair will center on the high quality and featured products of the region's agricultural and animal husbandry sectors. It will mainly exhibit mutton, beef, potatoes, rice, dairy products, flour, coarse cereals and various beans.

At the fairs, six major regional brands – Ulaanqab potatoes, Xiliin Gol mutton, Horqin beef, Hinggan rice, Tianfu Hetao and Chifeng millet – will be introduced in detail. Each city and league will also promote two or three of their high-quality products at the fairs.

According to local authorities, in addition to setting up a food tasting area, there will be an interactive area exhibiting intangible cultural heritage skills, a cultural products exhibition area and a business negotiation area. Special areas for e-commerce will also be set up at the venues to promote local e-commerce brands.

Inner Mongolia held its first agricultural and livestock products trade fair in Guangzhou last year. At that exhibition, 71 intention agreements worth 1,477 million yuan ($210 million) were signed, and on-site sales reached 2,854,400 yuan, which not only promoted local brands, but also achieved great economic benefits.
