The northern city of Ordos signed 49 cooperation projects worth a massive 55.48 billion yuan ($7.92 billion) at a promotional conference for its processing trade in Nanjing -- capital of East China's Jiangsu province held on Nov 11, officials announced.

Officials said the conference attracted the participation of 50 representatives from some chambers of commerce and business associations and over 300 company representatives.

Ordos's nine banners, two industrial parks and one department directly under the Ordos government signed cooperation projects with 51 enterprises.

At the conference, Siqinbilige, mayor of Ordos, talked about the economic and social development, equipment manufacturing and coal chemicals industry in Ordos.

The mayor expressed the hope that Ordos and Nanjing would strengthen their exchanges and cooperation in a wider range, in more fields and at higher levels.

Hu Hong, vice-mayor of Nanjing, said at the conference that he hoped the event could create a platform for entrepreneurs in Nanjing and Ordos to communicate, discuss and cooperate with each other.

Nanjing and Ordos will work together to share resources and Nanjing will encourage more of its local enterprises to invest and develop in Ordos, Hu added.
