The first smart tax center in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region started operating in Dongsheng district in Ordos -- a major city in the autonomous region -- in May this year, offering convenience for its citizens, officials said.

They said the smart tax center uses "self-service terminal + cloud" and is a 24-hour one-stop tax operation with on-site and remote support.

The taxpayer can fully handle all his tax affairs by himself. At the same time, the equipment at the center supports general business for the city -- except for registration and cancellations.

It can handle an estimated 91 tax issues for the whole autonomous region and 15 tax issues at a national level.

According to officials of the center, the tax center has 14 integrated server machines and 18 cloud computers.

In addition, the center has introduced many recognition technologies such as ID verifications and face recognition.

After the taxpayer passes the face recognition and ID verification at the entrance, the infrared sensing equipment and face recognition camera will track and record the tax handling process after the taxpayer entering the center.

The taxpayer does not need to show their certificates or tax identification number to handle any other tax related business.

At the same time, all the equipment in the center is equipped with remote audio and video calls and remote assistance functions.

Taxpayers can call the remote assistance center if they encounter various difficulties in handling their business and remote staff will give answers and guidance to taxpayers.
