Baotou city promotes electronic toll collection

2019-12-09

The city of Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region has been making efforts to promote the installation of electronic toll collection (ETC) devices to meet its annual target this year, according to a Dec 6 report in the Baotou Daily.

On March 28 in 2018, Baotou’s first ETC customer service center was established, responsible for after-sales services of the devices in the city.

The city is expected to boast 530,000 ETC users by the end of 2019, with the ETC installation rate reaching 80 percent across the city.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Transport issued a circular to popularize the use of expressway ETC devices, with a target to install such devices in over 80 percent of registered automobiles by the end of this year.

The policy aims to reduce emissions and logistics costs and relieve traffic congestion on expressways.
