Tech innovation drives Inner Mongolia’s development

2020-07-06

North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region is accelerating the implementation of its “Technology Boosts Inner Mongolia Development” program, according to information recently released by the autonomous region’s department of science and technology.

In its latest move, the department solicited opinions from research institutes, key laboratories, high-tech industrial development zones and high-tech enterprises in the autonomous region on a white paper called the Several Policies and Measures to Accelerate the Promotion of Scientific Innovation.

Officials said that in last December, the government of the Inner Mongolia and the Ministry of Science and Technology reached a consensus on the implementation of the “Technology Boosts Inner Mongolia Development” program, with the latter formally incorporating it into the national regional innovation and development strategic map.

Benefiting from the implementation of the action, a list -- including more than 1,600 innovative projects from the autonomous region -- has been collected and classified.

Officials said the autonomous region’s department of science and technology has expressed its formal intention to cooperate with universities and scientific research institutes including Tsinghua University, Peking University, China Agricultural University and Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Additionally, the Inner Mongolian department has undertaken in-depth work with Shanghai Jiaotong University through online and offline technology match-making activities, major technological breakthroughs, industrialization of achievements and the joint construction of technology innovation centers.
