Hohhot marks progress in digital economic development

Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been making efforts in promoting the development of its digital economy, with various improvements to the digital economy being implemented, according to local media reports.

In the first half of 2020, the city's information transmission, software and information technology service industries maintained rapid growth, with added value increasing by 14.9 percent, contributing to the regional GDP growth rate by 0.5 percentage points.

In terms of information manufacturing, the autonomous region's first Tsinghua Tongfang server production line, with an annual output of 100,000 units, has been put into production, and the construction of the Inspur Inner Mongolia Big Data Industrial Park in Hohhot Science and Technology City has begun.

In terms of big data applications, a number of big data platforms have been built in areas including power dispatch, dairy production, grassland ecology, industrial interconnection, highway logistics, and information security. Development of a number of scientific research and talent training base projects such as the Inner Mongolia Big Data Research Institute is also accelerating.

In terms of the construction of the industrial internet, Hohhot has continued to carry out the cloud-logging action for enterprises, formulated the Interim Measures for Accelerating the Development of the Industrial Internet, cultivated 23 cloud-logging service providers, and completed the cloud-logging of more than 2,000 enterprises.

In terms of the digital innovation industry, in the first half of this year the city's e-commerce transaction volume was 60.55 billion yuan ($8.85 billion), a year-on-year increase of 2 percent. And the online retail sales were 6.86 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.2 percent. Both indicators ranked first in the autonomous region.
