Inner Mongolia products shine at World Cup

2022-12-01 (chinadaily.com.cn)

Elements from North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region have shined in Qatar during the 2022 FIFA World Cup and drawn attention from international guests.

According to the head of the Ordos Electric Power and Metallurgical Group, a resident enterprise of Inner Mongolia, "This year, the company has exported 2,875 metric tons of PVC to Qatar. Feedback from Qatari customers shows that these materials were mainly used for the construction of plastic runways and circuit pipe networks for World Cup stadiums."

Meanwhile, China's dairy giant Mengniu, headquartered in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia's capital city, not only became an official sponsor of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but also placed huge advertisements inside and outside the Qatar stadiums.

Ding Xiaolong, director of the foreign trade office of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Department of Commerce, stated that Qatar is one of Inner Mongolia's important trading partners, along with the other countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.

From January to October of this year, Inner Mongolia’s exports to Qatar reached a total of 21.23 million yuan ($3.03 million). Sunflower seeds, dairy products, and frozen boneless sheep are among the exported products.

"Inner Mongolia's superior products have been purchased in large quantities and recognized by the host of the 2022 World Cup. This will open up foreign trade between other international buyers and Inner Mongolia.” Ding added.
