By Lu Wei Updated: 2018-02-02

A total of 12 research and development (R&D) centers owned by high-tech district-based businesses have been recognized as autonomous region-level R&D centers in 2017, Baotou Daily reported on Jan 27.

To date, Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone boasts 40 autonomous region-level R&D centers, representing 14 percent of the city’s total.

Approved by the State Council in 1992, the district is the only high-tech district dedicated to the rare earth industry among China’s 53 national high-tech zones, and is the only national-level high-tech zone in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
