Activities mark 22nd World Wetlands Day

Activities marking the 22nd World Wetlands Day were held in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Feb 2, to promote awareness of wetland protection, according to local media.

Themed around “wetlands for a sustainable urban future”, activities including games, hiking contests, exhibition tours and bird feeding were organized at Nanhai Wetland scenic area, a national 4A-level scenic area in the southern suburbs of Donghe district.

World Wetlands Day is marked each year on Feb 2, marking the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands in 1971. A variety of events and activities were held on the designated day aimed at raising public awareness of the value of wetlands.
