Baotou hosts promotion event for $572-million project

A promotion event for a lithium ion battery cathode material project worth 3.8 billion yuan ($572 million) was held in Qingshan district of Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on April 10, according to Baotou Daily.

The event attendees included Zhang Yuanzhong, secretary of the CPC Baotou municipal committee, Zheng Yonggang, Chairman of the Board of Shanshan Holdings, and Zhao Jiangtao, deputy secretary of the CPC Baotou municipal committee.

The project, funded by Inner Mongolia Shanshan Technology Co, will cover an area of 980 mu (65.33 hectares) and will include coke raw material production lines and natural graphite raw material production lines.

Construction work on the project has been divided into two phases and will be completed by the end of 2019.

The project is expected to produce 100,000 tons of lithium ion battery cathode material annually upon completion, with yearly output estimated to be around 3.85 billion yuan.
