Baogang No 1 High School was founded in 1960 by Baogang Group, also known as Baotou Iron and Steel Group. It is the first batch of key senior high schools in Inner Mongolia autonomous region. In 1991, it was listed by the National Education Commission in "China's Prestigious Schools" (secondary schools). In 1996, it was identified as the first open school in Inner Mongolia by the Central Institute of Education. The graduates of the school have won top places in the College Entrance Examination on numerous occasions. Every year, hundreds of students won entrance to universities in projects 211and 985.
