Baotou receives 933,000 holiday tourists
A total of 933,000 tourists visited Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region over the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday period, representing year-on-year growth of 15.2 percent, reports Baotou Daily.
The holiday visitors brought in revenues of 493 million yuan ($76 million), a year-on-year increase of 20.4 percent.
Tourists to the city mostly favored short tours of the local area, with stops at major tourist attractions such as Wudang Lamasery, Meidai Monastery, Chilechuan scenic area, Nanhai Wetland scenic area and Shimen scenic area.
A variety of festival themed activities were organized to encourage the growth of the tourism industry, including rice dumpling making competitions and folk art festivals.
In order to maintain a safe and orderly environment for tourists visiting Baotou, the city has carried out extra security patrols and inspections at key tourist attractions, with special arrangements to ensure adequate numbers of officials on duty to handle complaints over the holiday.
