A total of 43 rare earth related projects with a total investment of 17.36 billion yuan ($2.53 billion) were signed at the 10th China Baotou Rare Earth Industry Forum opening in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Sept 10, reports Baotou Daily.

These projects mainly involve five major industrial production chains for rare earth materials: rare earth permanent magnets, polishing, hydrogen storage, additives and alloys, and its terminal applications.

Baotou, China’s leading supplier of rare earths, currently has 134 enterprises involved in processing rare earths, forming a relatively complete industrial system from rare earth mining, research and development, production to trade.

The signing of the new projects will further promote the upgrading of the rare earth industry and promote the development of the regional economy in Baotou.
