A “thangka” is displayed on the hillside at Wudang Lamasery during a recently held Buddhist ceremony, attracting attention from numerous visitors and photographers, Sept 10. This particular thangka is the largest in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and measures 20 meters in length and 16.8 meters in width. A thangka is a sort of Tibetan Buddhist painting, usually depicting a Buddhist deity, scene, or mandala. Some thangkas are large in size and can be several meters in dimension. They are specially designed to be displayed at religious festivals. [Photo/Baotou Daily]
