A rare earth permanent magnet high-efficiency motor academician workstation was set up in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Sept 10, according to Baotou Daily.

The academician workstation, established at Beifang Rare Earth Group Technology Co, marks a new step in the promotion of industry-university-research cooperation and in the introduction of highly-skilled professionals to the high-tech district –– building a new platform for major project development and scientific and technological cooperation and exchange.

The workstation, co-developed by Tang Renyuan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), will focus on researching high-efficiency permanent magnet motors, and comprehensively and systematically apply rare earth permanent magnet motors in industrial tools such as water pumps, fans, belt machines and ball mills. The workstation will also attempt to research and develop a complete set of technology for rare earth permanent magnet wheel motors.

Tang Renyuan, one of China’s founders and pioneers in the field of rare earth permanent magnet motors, has sent years researching them. He actively promotes the development and utilization of rare earth resources in China, and successfully developed the first rare earth permanent magnet motor in the country.

The academician workstation, combined with specific research projects, is aimed at cultivating professionals and technical personnel with rich experience and innovative ability for the autonomous region.
