Big beef, mutton industry convention to open on July 26
The sixth China Baotou International Beef and Mutton Industry Convention is scheduled to open in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on July 26, according to a press conference held on July 2.
The three-day event will cover production, processing, sales and the intensive processing equipment for beef and mutton.
Baotou city's abundant natural resources and its complete system for processing and manufacturing have created favorable conditions for the development of organic agricultural and livestock products. The four major industries – vegetables, potatoes, meat and dairy – account for 70 percent of the agricultural and animal husbandry industry there. Officials say the conversion rate from conventional to organic agricultural and livestock products has reached 65 percent.
By hosting the beef and mutton industry convention, Baotou city aims to develop a domestic and international economic trading platform, displaying products and promoting cooperation and exchanges to boost regional economic development.
Over five years, the annual convention has attracted the participation of more than 3,000 exhibitors from home and abroad and more than 2,000 buyers. The accumulated transactions and orders has hit 30 billion yuan ($4.37 billion).
