Baotou Beifang Chuangye Co recently landed a significant contract for 2,600 railway wagons worth some 1 billion yuan ($145 million) in total, according to a July 15 Baotou Evening News report.

The contract included an order to supply 2,000 C70E general-purpose gondola rail freight cars and 600 C80B stainless steel coal freight cars.

Based in Baotou, Baotou Beifang Chuangye Co is one of the core subsidiaries of Inner Mongolia First Machinery Group Co, the largest machinery manufacturer based in the Northern China autonomous region.

It is the designated manufacturer for railway freight cars, and is backed by China Railway Corporation. Industry insiders say it is a listed company with an excellent reputation for research and production.

The core business of the company is railway wagon manufacturing. Currently, it can produce more than 40 models of gondola rail freight cars, tank cars, flat cars, box cars, hopper cars and special vehicles.

Its brake beams, bogies, axles and similar parts enjoy a high reputation. With the processing and manufacturing of parts and components, it has an annual production capacity of 10,000 units of various railway wagon vehicles.

In recent years, the company has been expanding its international market, and has exported its products to countries in Asia, Africa and South America.
