Baotou Central Blood Station

Baotou Central Blood Station is the only blood supply institute in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It is a public welfare health institution and is non-profit.

Founded in 1964, it covers a total area of 3,832 square meters and a total construction area of 6,458 square meters. There are currently 117 staff members.

It has seven business departments and seven administrative departments, with an annual blood supply of 9.0 tons. It undertakes the clinical blood supply task of 38 medical institutions in Baotou city, guarantees the life safety of the city's 2.68 million people -- and is responsible for publicity of voluntary blood donations in Baotou as well as business guidance for grassroots blood storage bank and hospital blood transfusion departments.

After more than 40 years of continuous development, it has developed into a modern comprehensive blood station integrating blood collection, scientific research and technical guidance.

The blood station’s main businesses have been continuously expanded, providing 19 kinds of blood products for clinical medical institutions in the city, providing services for clinically effective treatment.

From 1998 to 2011, the blood station completed 23 scientific research projects and won five municipal-level science and technology progress awards.

It is equipped with 12 pieces of large and medium-sized medical equipment, including imported automatic enzyme-linked immunoassay equipment, an automatic blood type meter, imported blood cell separator and an automatic biochemical analyzer.
