Baotou students shine at national innovation contest
Students from Baotou No 4 High School in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, scooped up first prize at the Novelty Originality Creativity finals – a national information technology innovation and practice competition -- with their 3D intelligent creation project.
The team also won the NOC event's highest honor – the NOC Innovation Award – according to an Aug 1 report in the Baotou Evening News.
The NOC competition, now in its 17th year, aims to promote learning, exploration, research and the skills of young technology enthusiasts in high-tech fields such as electronics, information and automatic controls. This year’s event was held in Zibo, in East China's Shandong province.
The NOC event is one of 29 national competitions for primary, middle and high school students recognized by the Ministry of Education.
Baotou has been an active participant in the NOC since its inception in 2002.
The city sent a municipal-level representative team consisting of 410 students and teachers to participate in the national finals of the 15th NOC, which was held in Qingdao, a coastal city in Shandong province -- with that team’s group score netting it third place in the 2017 competition.
