Baotou city adds lithium materials production plant
Construction work on a new integrated lithium materials production facility was topped off with an inauguration ceremony held on Aug 3, according to the Baotou Daily.
Officials said the Shanshan Technology Baotou Integrated Base, funded by Inner Mongolia Shanshan Technology Co with 3.8 billion yuan ($540 million), will be the world's largest lithium anode materials production base.
Covering an area of 65.3 hectares, it is expected to produce 100,000 tons of lithium ion battery anode materials annually on completion. The annual profit is expected to hit 7 billion yuan. In addition, it will provide some 2,000 new jobs.
The plant involves new anode material production lines – that includes processing of raw coke materials, natural graphite, low temperature modifications, carbonization, graphitization, finished product processing, testing, packaging and storage.
For the graphitization process, a base with an annual output of 50,000 tons is located in Jiuyuan Industrial Park, drawing an investment of 1.2 billion yuan and covering an area of 23.3 hectares.
After being put into production, it is estimated that annual profit and tax revenue will reach 90 million yuan.
The construction work on the base began in April, 2018.
After the ceremony, attendees visited production workshops, exhibition halls and laboratories at Shanshan Technology Baotou Integrated Base.
