Tengger Nayur Wetland Reserve bounces back

The Tengger Nayur Wetland Reserve appears serene under a blue sky, on Aug 17. Tengger means heaven in the Mongolian language and Nayur means lake. The wetlands reserve is the largest of its kind in Baotou. Since 1979, due to a continuous drought, the water levels of Tengger Nayur have declined, the wetlands have shrunk and the local ecosystem has faced disaster. Last year, however, the water levels in the wetlands recovered by around 100 million cubic meters due to torrential rain in the banner. [Photo/Baotou Daily]
