Major school complex nears completion in Baotou

Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region is soon to add one more education complex, with the construction work on the first phase of Baotou Sumeng Experimental School Project nearing completion, according to an Aug 24 Baotou Daily report.

The project, co-developed by Baotou’s Shiguai district and Jiangsu Education Group, is costing 500 million yuan ($70 million).

Located in Xiguitu new district of Shiguai, the project will cover an area of 20 hectares, including a site for a primary school and junior high school and other sites for a kindergarten and a high school.

Officials said the project will eventually develop into a modern high-end private education park that can accommodates some 6,000 pupils, ranging from kids to adults, including teacher training schools and schools offering courses on family education and how to help parents with their childrens’ school courses.

It will also come equipped with a multi-functional education area and large-scale venues that can be opened to the public when required. International courses will be offered at the high school.

Construction work on the schools has been divided into two phases. The first phase focuses on the primary schools and the middle schools, with all work near completion to ensure students are able to enroll in time for the new semester which will begin on Sept 1.

Work on the second phase will begin in October 2021, with completion expected by September 2022.

So far, the recruitment of teachers has been completed. The schools began student enrollment.
