The seventh Inner Mongolia “Grassland Talents” High-level Talent Cooperation and Exchange Conference kicked off in Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with a launch ceremony on Aug 30, according to a report in the Baotou Daily.

Attendees included five academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, four scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, officials from the People’s Government of Inner Mongolia and the Baotou municipal government and 370 high-level talents from home and abroad.

An innovation and entrepreneurship week will also be held at the same time, according to organizers.

A series of activities will be staged during the week-long event: an achievement exhibition, a themed forum, experience sharing, entrepreneurship and employment competitions and forums.

In addition, a recruitment fair attended by more than 300 Inner Mongolia-based enterprises will be held during the innovation and entrepreneurship week.

More than 10,000 job vacancies will be on offer in more than 30 sectors -- including machinery, chemicals, rare earths, electrical and electronics, new energy, environmental protection, medicine, education and real estate.

The Grassland Talents project was launched in the autonomous region in 2010 and aims to develop and train professionals from various fields in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Over the past few years, the region has used the project to bring in or nurture 1,456 professionals, train 675 regional-level industrial innovation and entrepreneurship teams in 15 fields -- including agriculture, animal husbandry, energy and new chemicals and built 82 high-level talent innovation centers.
