The city of Baotou, located in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, played host to 786,300 tourists during the three-day Mid-Autumn holiday period on Sept 13-15, representing year-on-year growth of 5.6 percent, according to a report in the Baotou Daily.

Total tourism revenue hit 419 million yuan ($59.09 million), surging 6 percent on the same period last year.

Officials said most tourists coming to the city chose short tours of the local area, with stops at major tourist attractions such as Wudang Lamasery and the Meidai Monastery, as well as the Chilechuan, Nanhai Wetland and the Shimen scenic areas.

To maintain a safe and orderly environment for tourists, the city introduced extra security patrols and inspections at key tourist attractions, with special arrangements initiated to ensure that adequate numbers of officials were on duty to handle complaints over the holiday period.
