Children attend a traditional writing ceremony in Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Sept 12. The writing ceremony, also known as a "kaibi ceremony", was one of the most important events for students in ancient China, and was held at the beginning of school sessions. Children would pay their respects to Confucius and express a desire to progress by participating in a series of rites. [Photo/Baotou Evening News]
