Baotou Airport's total number of passengers witnessed a takeoff, climbing to 45,000 people during the Oct 1-7 holiday, up 9.2 percent over the same period last year, according to the Baotou Daily.

The airport operated 378 flights during the holiday period, representing year-on-year growth of 11.8 percent.

Airport officials said the most popular destinations – including Beijing, Shanghai, Shijiazhuang in Hebei province and Zhengzhou in Henan province -- maintained the highest seat occupancy rates.
