An upcoming media convergence conference in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, will attract professionals and representatives from 35 media convergence centers from all across the autonomous region, according to the organizers.

A report in the Baotou Evening News, said the conference will be staged on Oct 16-18 in Baotou’s Qingshan district.

The organizers said the conference will discuss issues including the development of media integration and the integration and interaction of media centers at county, city and provincial level.

In addition, experts and academics will be invited to conduct special training sessions for participants.

Salons will be held to exchange views and explore the training and recruitment of professionals to the media industry, the production and planning of media products, as well as further improvements to media integration.

Qingshan is one of the key demonstration districts for the ambitious new media convergence plan approved by the autonomous region.

Earlier in July, the district launched a media convergence center which is expected to facilitate the confluence of various media channels and platforms.

The center will bring together traditional forms of media, such as radio and newspapers, with online streaming sites and other new media.

Officials said it will not rely on a single point, form or platform, but rather be a multi-point, multi-form and multi-platform facility -- mainly focusing on newspapers, the radio, television and the internet.

Since its establishment, the new media convergence center has employed filming using drones, VR, artificial intelligence and other technical means to produce a large number of media products based on short videos, animation and H5.

It has cooperated with media agencies and universities -- including Inner Mongolia Daily, Toutiao and Baotou Teachers’ College – officials said.

This has promoted the effective integration of media resources, government resources and science and education resources – as well as promoted the sharing of information content, technological applications, platform terminals and talent teams.
