North China’s Baotou tries railway e-tickets
Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has introduced trial operations of an e-ticket system for bullet and high-speed trains starting on Dec 18, according to local media reports.
A total of 14 railway stations in Inner Mongolia have adopted the system -- including Baotou Railway Station and Baotoudong Railway Station -- providing more convenience for passengers.
With the launch of the system, the e-tickets replace paper stubs and passengers can board trains using their ID cards or a QR code generated by China's official railway ticket-booking mobile app called 12306.
Those who need hard copies of their tickets for reimbursement can get printed tickets at designated counters at these railway stations.
Also, self-service gates have been added at the railway stations, making travelling easier for passengers.
Passengers can use valid ID cards and other identifiable documents. With them they can purchase tickets to go through the self-service gates, for verification and check-in and check-out procedures, based on the original valid ID of the passenger used at the time of the ticket purchase.
During the boarding process, passengers must be seated according to the date, train number, carriage number and seat number shown on the purchased ticket. When train staff check the ticket, passengers should present the original valid ID cards used when purchasing the ticket.
