Baotou adds first traffic safety education center

Updated: 2019-12-23

A traffic safety education center was launched at Baotou Light Industry Driving School in Baotou on Dec 20 -- marking the first education facility of its kind in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to local officials.

The education center will serve students and drivers.

Experience zones have been set up to give users immersive driving experiences – by integrating 3D, 4D and VR technologies.

Officials said the new facility will also popularize knowledge on road safety by broadcasting TV programs on traffic accidents and treatment for heart attacks.

Officials said that traffic accidents have become a major public hazard in today's society.

According to a global road safety report released by World Health Organization in May, 1.35 million people die every year due to traffic accidents.

Statistics released in China by the Ministry of Public Security showed that more than 26 million traffic notices about accident were received by the end of 2018.
