Baotou to stage New Year’s gala concert on Dec 31
A New Year’s gala concert is scheduled to take to the stage in Baotou city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Dec 31, according to a report in the Baotou Daily.
The New Year’s concert, now in its 22nd year, will again be performed by the Baotou Symphony Orchestra.
The concert will be conducted by Jin Gang, a young conductor from the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater.
In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China, the concert will be divided into two parts.
The first half will feature foreign musical works by composers including Johann Strauss Jr, the 19th Century master who was also known as the “Walz King.” The second half will focus on symphonies from domestic composers including Zou Ye, and Ding Xiaoli.
Tickets for the concert can be bought at the Performance Center, on the second floor of Baotou National Song and Dance Theater. Ticket prices range from 120 yuan ($17.19) to 680 yuan.
