Biotechnology specialist Baotou Dongbao Bio-tech Co has met important and internationally recognized sanitation stands, marking real progress for the company, according to a Feb 21 report in the Baotou Daily.

A spokesman for the company said it had received key certification for good manufacturing practices, or GMP.

He said that the US National Sanitation Foundation had awarded it a NSF-GMP Registration Certificate.

According to the NSF website, the foundation sets out guidelines for assurance of quality and high standards. The foundation, which issues the GMP certificates, provide a system of processes, procedures and documentation to assure a company's products have the identity, strength, composition, quality and purity that appear on their labels.

Founded in 1997, Baotou Dongbao Bio-tech Co is a national-level high tech-based company with expertise in the biotechnology industry.

The company has registered capital of 460 million yuan ($65.41 million) and total assets of 800 million yuan. It has an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons of gelatin and 1,000 tons of collagen.
