Big data applied to ensure work resumption in Baotou

Updated: 2020-03-06

The industry and information technology bureau of Baotou has been making strides in ensuring companies get back to work in the wake of the novel coronavirus epidemic, with the application of information technologies, according to a March 4 report in the Baotou Daily.

The bureau takes its full advantage to leverage Baotou city's big data industry, actively developing professional information systems to facilitate coronavirus pneumonia prevention and control and to resume work.

The Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology developed a QR code-driven scanning and self-service registration and inspection system.

It organized four resident companies -- China Unicom Baotou Branch, China Telecom Baotou Branch, Baotou Cloud Computing Center and Weicheng Changcheng Network Technology Co -- to establish the community and traffic checkpoint QR code self-service registration and inspection system across the city.

In addition, the bureau developed a statistical system for returning workers to industrial enterprises.

The system classifies statistics and updates information on a daily basis, including the status of the companies' resumption of work, the time of resumption of work and the travels of employees.

After being examined and confirmed by the municipal, banner, county and district governments, an overall big data picture of the return to work by industry and of production will be formed.

At present, the relevant data covers 413 industrial enterprises above a designated scale -- the statistical term referring to industrial companies with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.88 million) or more -- and 1,413 enterprises below that designated scale.

In addition, the system supports real-time viewing of resumption data of industrial enterprises, on mobile phones.
