Baotou city gets a national language promotion base
The Baotou Children’s Palace -- an innovatively designed community center where kids do extra-curricular activities -- was officially awarded the title of "National Language and Character Promotion Base" by the Ministry of Education and the National Language and Characters Working Committee, local officials said.
They said the announcement made it the first recipient to win the honor in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
National language and character promotion bases, under the overall management of the National Language and Characters Working Committee, aims to promote China's languages and culture.
A total of 60 in China, including Peking University, were selected as national language and character promotion bases in 2019.
Baotou Children's Palace is the only one to have been selected among the those applying for the honor in the autonomous region.
