Baotou to add industrial cloud center

Updated: 2020-05-27

Baotou city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region is to develop an industrial cloud center and industrial internet exhibition hall -- joining forces with tech giant Huawei Technologies Co and telco China Mobile Communications Group -- according to a May 25 report in the Baotou Daily.

The project, with an investment of 50 million yuan ($7.01 million), includes the construction of two floors in a data center and the construction of the internet exhibition hall.

Around 200 cabinets will be installed in the first phase for industry cloud, intelligent manufacturing and digital operations in Baotou.

Officials said plans are currently being refined and the goal is for the work to be complete within the year.

According to reports, the Baotou Big Data Industrial Park, located in Xiguitu new district in Shiguai district, is a science and technology park that integrates Baotou’s "urban brain" -- the integrated computer-driven control and monitoring system for city services -- as well as comprehensive displays, smart operations and the digital industry.

Currently, the industrial park boasts 16 local companies such as Weizhechangcheng Network Technology Co and Baotou Huiyucehui Service Co.

Recently, well-known enterprises such as Huawei Technologies Co and Neusoft Co have settled in the industrial park.
