A new super high-tech machine -- that can take and transmit magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI and which can be moved and easily assembled outside conventional hospitals -- was recently installed at Baogang Third Hospital in Baotou, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to local media reports.

The Chiying Fangcang MRI instrument, developed by Baotou-based Beifang Rare Earth Xibao Medical Co, integrates a variety of technologies such as ultra-small magnets, mobile medical Bluetooth access, mobile shelter shielding, internet transmissions and satellite communications.

As state-of-the-art internet medical equipment, it boasts a number of key technologies that have reached the world's advanced levels.

Chiying's MRI diagnosis and treatment instrument comes ready to install in two standard containers which when placed in a hospital effectively solves the space problems created by standard MRI equipment. It can both be moved and assembled at a new location quickly.

Officials said the instrument will currently be mainly used for daily physical examinations.

According to experts, usually, a conventional MRI machine is too large and heavy to move around and patients can only get their body images scanned in a hospital. However, people living in rural and remote areas don’t usually get access to advanced hospitals.

The instrument will have a variety of ancillary applications in different fields, operating in remote and poverty-stricken areas that lack hospitals and sophisticated medical devices.
