The Chilechuan Modern Agricultural Industrial Park -- an expo park integrating production, study, research and tourism -- opened to the public on June 1 in Baotou city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to a report in the Baotou Evening News.

The industrial park, with an investment of 270 million yuan ($38 million), covers an area of 5,000 mu, or 333 hectares.

The ticket price is 58 yuan per person.

To date, a 200 mu horticultural planting demonstration area, a 1,200 mu crop research and development area and a 300 mu animal husbandry and horse culture industrial area have been built.

Currently, a 17,000 square meter training center for farmers and herdsmen is under construction. The main technologies to be taught will include all-round intelligent temperature control systems, efficient technology cultivation, soilless cultivation, soilless large-scale hydroponic cultivation and soilless large-scale substrate cultivation.

In October 2019, the first batch of vegetables was planted in the industrial park and they were harvested in mid-March this year.

More varieties of fruit and vegetables are being grown in the second batch and the fertilizers have been adjusted to ensure better taste.
