Baotou issues funds for vocational education

The city of Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region has allocated 40.52 million yuan ($5.73 million) to promote the development of modern vocational education, according to a report in the Baotou Daily.

The funds will be used to improve the running conditions of vocational schools, officials said.

They will also be used to promote professional development, training facilities and vocational education centers that are urgently needed for the development of model vocational schools and key industries in the city.

The funds will aim to provide a financial guarantee for the city's economic transformation and upgrading.

They will also aim to build a better-off society in an all-round way and cultivating a large number of high-quality workers and technically skilled personnel.

Of the total, 11.11 million yuan will go towards supplementary funds for higher vocational education students.

Officials said 26.17 million yuan will go towards improving the teaching quality of secondary vocational education and improving the conditions for running schools -- and 3.24 million yuan will be directed to supplementary funds for support professional skills competitions.
