In recent years, the Saikhantal Ecological Park has been undergoing a series of upgrades and improvements to its environment and landscape -- with a succession of projects undertaken, including water system projects, according to local media reports.

Located in Qingshan district in Baotou, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, the Saikhantal grassland is the only wetland grassland in an urban area in Asia.

Saikhantal means "beautiful grassland" in the Mongolian language, officials said.

The upgrading of the grassland began in 2017.

Officials said that by closely following a detailed restoration plan, the upgrade was completed -- with grassland landscape preserved to the highest level and the environment greatly improved.
