Updated: 2020-07-09

China Second Metallurgy Group Co won the tender for the International Land Port Area Infrastructure Construction project in East China’s Shandong province on June 24, signing a contract worth 19.1 billion yuan ($2.72 billion) – the biggest construction project in terms of value in the company’s history.

The land port will be built outside the city center of Linyi in Shandong province, with a planned construction area of about 26.6 square kilometers.

The international land port area will be divided into eight major functional areas including a multi-modal transport services hub for highways and railways and a distribution platform for bulk cargo imports and exports. A logistics hub will also be built, with highway logistics at the core, serving regional commercial activities.

Officials said the project includes the construction of municipal roads and support facilities, public facilities, a green landscape and public welfare projects.

Based in Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, China Second Metallurgy Group Co is one of the key subsidiaries of China Minmetals Co and the Metallurgical Corporation of China.

It is a large-scale diversified company that has operations in engineering contracting, project investment and financing, real estate development, steel structures and equipment manufacturing.
