Baotou city -- in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- has made marked progress in its technological transformation and industrial upgrading, with a total of 70 transformation achievement projects unveiled in the city in 2019, according to a report in the Baotou Evening News.

The projects -- involving six technical fields including new materials, high-end equipment, new energy and Mongolian and Chinese medicine -- won autonomous region-level funding for transformation achievements totaling 34.90 million yuan ($4.99 million).

So far this year, Baotou has won regional funding of 10.71 million yuan for transformation achievements, mainly involving high-end equipment, new materials and biotechnology. It is expected to attract a total investment of 41.7 million yuan from the companies.

In recent years, Baotou has actively promoted the deep integration of its production, education and research -- and promoted the transformation of advanced technological achievements in the city.

In the field of rare earth new materials, Baotou has carried out full-chain innovative designs.

These have gone from basic research in major key common technologies, to full application demonstrations.

The designs have relied on local scientific research institutes and outstanding scientific and technological enterprises to complete the application and implementation of key special projects, as well as explore and improve a regional technological innovation system.
