North China's Baotou to add first indoor ski resort

The city of Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region is to develop its first indoor winter sport, leisure and skiing resort -- providing one more leisure option for its residents, according to local media reports.
The Baotou Olympic Ice and Snow Center, located in the hinterland of Baotou, will have a total construction area of about 41,940 square meters.
It includes a 3,000 sq m snow play area, a 12,300 sq m indoor ice rink, a 25,400 sq m skiing area with two snow trails and support garages, service areas and other auxiliary facilities.
Officials said it will be the first indoor ski resort in Baotou city.
They said it is expected to boost the entertainment of locals.
