Baotou now boasts 2,200 5G base stations
The city of Baotou in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has built a total of 2,200 5G base stations so far, according to Baotou Evening News.
The progress in 5G deployment represents the city's commitment to developing technologically advanced infrastructure.
The city has drafted a range of policies – including the Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development of 5G Industry and Baotou's 5G Network Construction Promotion Work Plan – to achieve full coverage by 5G base stations in the next three years.
The construction of a smart city has also made progress, with the formulation of related work plans, such as the Smart Baotou Promotion Plan 2020-2022.
Baotou is also accelerating the construction of the government information resource sharing platform. At present, the overall system design has been completed and the development of a system module function is in progress.
The development of the digital economy is another top priority for the city.
The Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Digital Economy in Baotou centers on four main themes: information network expansion and upgrading, digital industrialization, industrial digitalization, and governance digitalization. The document further outlines the necessary goals and tasks to develop the city's digital economy.
