The Baotou Rare Earth Research and Development Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), located in Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has been making full use of international and domestic innovation resources to develop a Sino-European joint laboratory, according to a Baotou Daily report.
The laboratory focuses on areas including the preparation of high-purity rare earth metals and their application in high-quality steel, aluminum and other new metal structural materials, as well as metal surface cleaning plasma technology and equipment.
It aims to promote technical exchanges and cooperation, jointly develop advanced technology and equipment, realize the introduction and output of international leading technology and equipment, and cultivate high-quality metal material research and development and equipment manufacturing talents.
A scientific research team composed of 13 high-level scientific researchers from relevant scientific research institutions in China, Russia, Ukraine, Slovenia, France, Austria and other countries is carrying out research and market development in four areas.
The research results will be of great significance to improving the quality of steel and aluminum alloys, serving China’s nuclear power, high-speed rail, automobiles, large aircraft and other major equipment manufacturing sectors, as well as the nation's exports of high-quality special steel and high-end aluminum products.
