Baotou launches poverty alleviation themed event

Baotou, in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, launched a poverty alleviation themed activity on Oct 26, helping boost the sales of agricultural products from Xinshuguang village in Wudangzhao town, Shiguai district, according to a report in Baotou Daily.

During the activity, cadres and staff members of the Baotou CPPCC municipal committee purchased potatoes, millet, buckwheat and other agricultural specialty products from the village, worth more than 10,000 yuan ($1,495).

Prior to this, the office of the Baotou CPPCC municipal committee issued a proposal to mobilize its members to participate in poverty alleviation activities.

To date, members of the Baotou CPPCC municipal committee, government organ officials and staff members have purchased more than 45,000 kilograms of various agricultural products from poverty-stricken villages in Baotou.
