Baotou posts steady economic development in Q1-3

The city of Baotou -- in North Chinas Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- recorded a steady economic performance in the first three quarters of 2020, according to local media reports.

Regional gross domestic product in the period stood at 209.58 billion yuan ($31.50 billion), an increase of 1 percent at comparable prices compared with the same period last year, according to a report in the  Baotou Evening News.

The growth rate was 2.5 percentage points faster than that in the first half of the year and was 0.3 and 2.9 percentage points higher than the country and the autonomous region's average, respectively.

The growth rate made Baotou fifth among the 12 leagues and cities in the autonomous region.

In terms of individual sectors, the added value of its primary industry in the nine months was 4.11 billion yuan, an increase of 0.1 percent, while the added value of the secondary industry was 93.33 billion yuan, an increase of 9.6 percent. The added value of the tertiary industry was 112.14 billion yuan, a decrease of 5.5 percent.

During the period, the added value of the city's industries above a designated size increased by 10.1 percent year-on-year.

The per capita disposable income of residents in the city grew by 1.1 percent in the nine months to 34,729 yuan, ranking Baotou first in the autonomous region.

The per capita disposable income of urban residents was 38,380 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.5 percent and the per capita disposable income of farmers and herdsmen was 14,075 yuan, an increase of 6 percent.
