The finance bureau of Baotou -- in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region -- has been making efforts to improve the city's infrastructure, according to local media reports.

The city had allocated 132 million yuan ($20.06 million) in special funds to further develop its infrastructure as of the end of August.

The funds have been used for the comprehensive repair and renovation of damaged roads and sidewalks, aging and missing lamps and cables and repairing cracks and faults in bridge decks, among other things.

The remedial work will ensure the efficient operation of municipal facilities and provide high-quality services to residents.

To ensure the construction of key municipal projects, Baotou allocated 100 million yuan of the total funding to such projects as installing rain and sewage pipelines, the transformation of old pipeline networks and the treatment of stagnant water points in the main urban area.

In order to ensure the maintenance and repair of municipal facilities, 32 million yuan in funds was allocated to roads, street lights and bridges, among other things.
